“The trouble with retirement is that you never get a day off,” is a popular quote made by Abe Lemons; and rings true for those who make most of the time given to them post-retirement. Many people take this period of their life as a blessing in disguise and immerse themselves into pursuing all that they have passionate about, but have had to keep it all aside to meet upto all their other worldly obligations. Yet, there are those who have been workaholics and are at a loss of what they can do to keep themselves busy.
Well, it is all about of relaxing and then going deep within and asking the self – “What is it that I have always wanted to do, and have not been able to do all these years because of my other duties.” One then needs to draw a list and then make a timetable so that they can pursue all that they want to. Then they are back onto the busy bandwagon, and this time achieving complete satisfaction.
There are some who have converted their hobbies during the retirement phase into money-making ventures. This is because rather than being dependent on others, they would rather earn, however little, from doing something productive. Whereas there are others who get immersed into voluntary activities, like reading stories to children, or then doing work at the charity organizations.
No matter what the retirement hobbies maybe, it is all about making most of the spare time to make up for the lost time. It is about relaxing in a productive way. It is all about pursuing all that had to be sacrificed in order to make a living and bringing up the children. This phase in one’s life is like a second coming.
