A fun way to enjoy Origami is do it as a creative session. Enjoy a hot afternoon or a rainy/snowy day when you need to do some indoor activity. Involve, try and learn new methods of paper folding.  For teaching a toddler, get the basics right with simple folds. There are so many designs with bird folds and other complicated pull outs. Use some shading and crayon art and color the art you have created.

 To get children interested show them colored marble paper and let them feel the texture. Once they get interested teach them simple folds, dog, cat, triangle, house, boat and a swan. They love the toad that jumps and also the butterfly that attempts to fly. Let them use some light beads and do the eyes and nose. Most kids like the odd jobs while doing activity and slowly will get interested in the main subject.

 For a origami competition choose a topic that is interesting. Prepare the child well in advance and follow the guidelines. Use a background idea like in case you are doing a mama monkey and baby monkey then let them hang over a tree branch that is above a stream. Draw tiny fishes or water plants to make it interesting. Draw a wiggly tail almost touching the waters. A bit of clouds and sun shining completes the art.

 There are unimaginable things done with paper like aero plane, jet, swan, peacock, hippo or cow. Do a Xmas tree and make a card for the occasion. Try the hollow effect for a bull or a rabbit. Get the folds correct and practice the same. Use the hang-picture idea to decorate the kid’s room and origami is another way to get busy. A hobby that is interesting keeps you intrigued for more.
